In 2006 Porter moved to San Jose del Cabo from the Pacific Northwest. The vibrant light of the Baja drew her to the area and inspired her work. After finding the building that would become Casa Dahlia, she created a studio space for herself. In the ten years to follow, the work of over 30 contemporary artists was represented at the gallery. The garden cafe and film house served as a community center. Porter strives to keep the gallery a zen backdrop to the minimal artwork on display and works to create a reprieve from the noise of modern day life.
